For the time since 1997, two Christian albums debuted in the top 10 of Billboard's Top 200 albums chart as Underoath's Lost In The Sound Of Separation (Tooth & Nail Records) claimed the No. 8 spot and Chris Tomlin's Hello Love (sixsteps/Sparrow Records) came in at No. 9 (for the week ending Sept. 7).
In its first week of release, Lost In The Sound Of Separation, Underoath's latest studio album, sold more than 56,000 units. This marks the band's second Billboard top 10 debut, as their 2006 project, Define The Great Line, debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Top 200 albums chart when it was released in June 2006.
Tomlin's Hello Love is his fifth studio album and its first week sales of more than 51,000 units and the No. 9 debut are both career highs for him. Additionally, Hello Love claimed the top spot on the iTunes Christian & Gospel Albums Chart and rose to No. 2 on iTunes' Top Albums Chart, making it the highest charting debut for any album in the Christian music industry, according to a label press release.
This marks just the second time since the inception of Christian SoundScan in July 1995 that two Christian albums debuted in the top 10 of the Billboard Top 200. The only other time was when in Sept. 1997 when LeAnn Rimes' You Light Up My Life (Curb Records) claimed the top spot and Amy Grant's Behind The Eyes (Myrrh Records) came in at No. 8 for the week ending Sept. 14, 1997.
